Roma Foy

Final year pharmacy student, Queen’s University Belfast

I have completed three years of the MPharm degree at Queen’s University Belfast and I am currently in my fourth and final year.

Alongside my studies, I work part-time as a pharmacy assistant,  dispensing medications for the pharmacist to check, helping customers purchase OTC products and helping with stock.

My interest in pharmacy started with  work experience in a pharmacy when I was at school. I also attended job fairs in healthcare where I got to speak to different healthcare professionals including pharmacists.  In doing this, I learnt about the profession and decided I wanted to pursue it.

I am passionate about pharmacy as it allows me to help and interact with others on a daily basis. I’m also excited about the opportunity of a varied career that pharmacy offers.

Northern Ireland is advancing in pharmacy and this makes me hopeful about my future. I have also been extremely happy with the university teaching I have received here.

Finally, I am particularly interested in promoting mental health awareness and I am a member of the School of Pharmacy Mental Health and Wellbeing Team at QUB.
