I am the lead pharmacy technician training at the Northern Ireland Centre for Pharmacy Learning and Development (NICPLD). My background is in hospital pharmacy so it’s been amazing to have a national role that enables me to interact with pharmacy colleagues across the UK and Ireland. I have learned so much about the different roles pharmacy professionals undertake, and how we can support these.
I really enjoy being able to encourage and assist pharmacy technicians to develop their knowledge and skills, through the development and delivery of high-quality learning programmes. It’s important to me that education is aligned with clinical practice in order to provide safe and effective care for people who access pharmacy services in NI.
I care greatly about this aspect of my job because excellent quality, patient centred care is what we’re here for! I have created the NI Pharmacy Technician Forum which is a platform for us to share and showcase all of the great work that goes on under the radar – If anyone wishes to get involved they can contact me for more details.
