I have been a pharmacist for 22 years and my current role has two main elements - to support and help local National Pharmacy Association (NPA) members with resources and guidance to successfully run their businesses, and to work with members and stakeholders to raise the profile of community pharmacy.
I enjoy the variety this role offers between pharmacy practice, training and policy, and the opportunity to liaise with colleagues across the profession. I still practice as a community pharmacist part-time which allows me to keep up-to-date and to continue working with patients.
My career has given me a range of opportunities, and I am looking forward to a bright and busy future as greater value is given to pharmacist’s skills throughout the health system. I believe that pharmacists in Northern Ireland have a great opportunity now to expand our roles. Our size means we can have close connections between colleagues in different sectors and we can positively shape how patient care is delivered.
