I work in a dynamic team driving safer and more effective medicines use through innovation, research, service development, technology and knowledge transfer to optimise patient care. This includes collaborating extensively across Europe and sharing our work locally, nationally and internationally through conferences, events and publications.
After working in community pharmacy, including delivering the Managing Your Medicines service and working as practice-based pharmacist on a sessional basis, I joined the hospital sector as coordinator of the award-winning Integrated Medicines Management (IMM) project. I continued in the ongoing development of IMM as Clinical Services Development Pharmacist and qualified as an independent prescriber. After a period of attachment as Principal Pharmacist at the Department of Health, I joined the Medicines Optimisation Innovation Centre (MOIC) team. I have been a pharmacist for 26 years.
NI is recognised as a driving force in Europe and globally in medicines optimisation. We are the only region with a dedicated innovation centre, cooperating and working cohesively across all sectors to deliver safer and more effective medicines use, including healthcare, academia, industry and community and voluntary sectors.
NI has a strong ‘test, scale and spread’ ethos, with a reputation for generating robust evidence that is compelling to inform and drive consistent and equitable delivery of best practice in medicines. You can see why it’s easy for me to be passionate about pharmacy in NI!
